Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the best videogames of the last decade, especially thanks to its replayability and ability to play as whoever we want. Thanks to its vast customization, we can build and make any character, from its appearance to its abilites and/or powers. This time, we are going to make Sanji, the valuable cook of the Straw Hats Crew, as our character in Baldur’s Gate 3. So stick around and discover How To Play As Sanji (One Piece) In Baldur’s Gate 3.
Sanji Character Sheet.
To make Sanji as close as possible in Baldur’s Gate 3, we can select the High Half-Elf race.
As a High Half-Elf, thanks to its natural charisma and agility, gives us bonus +2 Charisma, +1 Dexterity and a free cantrip. We can select Fire Bolt, to represent its Diable Jambe from the anime/manga series.
Its main class has to be Monk, since they rely on unarmed strikes. Perfect for Sanji’s leg-based combat style! Focus mainly on the Way of the Open Hand, so we can get the 3 battle styles.
As its background, you can pick either Entertainer or Guild Artisan (Baldur’s Gate 3 version of cook).
Finally, you want your stats to look something like this:
- Strenght: 10
- Dexterity: 16
- Constitution: 12
- Intelligence: 10
- Wisdom: 15
- Charisma: 14
When selecting Feats, try to focus on these, if you want to make an anime/manga accurate-Sanji:
Mobile: Adds additional speed and allows hit-and-runs attacks and maneuvers, without causing opportunity attacks. A great way to disengage with your enemies and plan new strategies on the go!
Tavern Brawler: Adds your Strength into your attack, dealing more damage (not very Sanji-like but optional).
Alert: Prevents you from being Surprise and obtain +5 Initiative. The best representation of Haki in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Other Feats you can consider are Athlete, Actor, Tough.
If you are feeling creative, you can pick Magic Initiate: Warlock. This will give you access to several spells, which you can take:
Blade Ward: Giving you resistance to damage, similar to Sanji’s exosqueleton.
Hellish Rebuke: A fire based counter, similar to Diable Jambe.
Eldritch Blast: Since you require Charisma to use it, it could count as an really strong kick (Challenge: Only use it as a close-range blast, to fully respect Sanji’s martial art build)
Top Options for Multi Class Sanji.
While Monk is the main class that you need to build Sanji around for its build, there are benefits from multiclassing into very specific classes. Here are some of the best and what can you get from them.
Rogue (Levels 1-3).
The main reason you would like to multiclass Sanji into the Rogue class is to gain the Fast Hands ability. This will give you an extra bonus action on your turn and make you deal way more damage to your enemies. Additionally, you win the ability to make sneak attacks to distracted or engaged enemies. Not a high priority but a nice add-on to your build.
Bard (Levels 1-2 or 3).
We know that Sanji ain’t no Bard. That’s for the Brook’s build! However, we could interpret this class as “Cook”, since it has many benefits for him. Being a Bard gives you access to spells like Charm Person and Heat Metal (another Diable Jambe flair to use fire with this build!). While you could stop here, you can also go to Level 3 and pick the College of Valor or Swords, depending if you don’t want to follow the build that close.
Warlock (Levels 1 and 2).
If you want to add a bit of spice to your Sanji build, Warlock seems like a good option. With Levels 1 and 2, you can easily pick Burning Hands and Eldritch Blast, powerful spells that go very well with this character. While Eldritch Blast can be used as a distance, we offer you a challenge: Only use it as a close-range blast, to fully respect Sanji’s martial art build).
Fighter (Levels 1 and 2).
If you want to make as many attacks as possible, you want to pick the Fighter class for at least 2 levels. At the first one, you unlock second wind, which gives you an additional way to regain health. Then, at Level 2, you get Action Surge, with gives you an extra full action once per short rest. This gives your Sanji Build a lot of flexibility and combat capabilities.
Conclusion.
Sanji is a very strong and fun character to play in Baldur’s Gate 3. This builds allows us to play with its character combat style while also performing fire damage attacks that are iconic to its abilities set. If you wanted to add a bit extra of roleplaying to your character, you can also add a few rules, like always make sure to pick the dialogue that always uses charm or seems flirtatious to women. You can also add difficulty and never attack female enemies, just like Sanji! Be sure to try this build and add as many roleplay as you can, so you can enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3 to the fullest.
